Frequently Asked Questions

Performance Edge Physiotherapy Clinic

FAQ's

No. We are first contact practitioners which means you can call the clinic, email us, or book online without any referral.

All initial physiotherapy consultations are scheduled for 60 minutes. This allows the physiotherapist  time to take your injury history, provide a thorough assessment, AND provide treatment in the same consultation. All follow-up sessions are 30 minutes; however, they can be extended to 45 or 60 minutes depending on the complexity of your condition or if you have multiple areas that need attention. Massage consultations can be scheduled for 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes.

An initial consultation is booked for assessing and treating any new patient to our clinic, i.e., your first consultation at Performance Edge Physiotherapy will be your initial consultation.

An old patient consultation is a 60-minute consultation booked for someone who has seen us before but may not have been in for >3 months; or for a current patient with a new injury. These scenarios are given the extra time with your Physiotherapist as they might require additional time for assessment and treatment.

A standard consultation is a follow-up consultation for the same complaint that you have previously seen your Physiotherapist for within the last 3 months.

Usually, our consultations are booked to treat one individual complaint or condition, and this allows a complete and thorough, un-rushed assessment and gives our utmost attention to each complaint. In some cases, your Physiotherapist may agree to address an additional complaint in your session but be mindful that this may not be as comprehensive as if it were handled individually. If you would like to book extra time with your Physiotherapist to make sure an additional area is treated appropriately, please speak with our lovely receptionists.

We accept all card payment types with the exclusion of AMEX. Before to your card payment, we also accept HICAPS (on-the-spot private health fund claiming); however this can not be processed if you are paying over the phone. Although we accept cash payments, we prefer card payment in keeping with trying to remain COVID safe.

The benefit you receive from your private health insurer will depend on the level and type of cover you have. If you aren’t sure, we can run a quote on the HICAPS machine prior to submitting your claim.

Yes. If you have opted for massage or have Top Extras with your private health insurer you will receive a benefit for your massage consultation just like you do with your Physiotherapy consultation.

Medicare Australia can provide a subsidy for up to 5 physiotherapy sessions for those who meet a specific criterion relating to chronic conditions. To receive these Medicare-covered treatment sessions described as either as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan or a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you must have a referral from your GP. With this referral, we can process your payment similarly to a private health insurance rebate, meaning you only pay the GAP payment.
